A Masquerade

12736 NE 15th Pl
Bellevue, WA 98005
(425) 373-5990

A diverse shop with rentals and a small selection of items for sale (including some great Venetian masks). Cheaper and more flexible than Vintage Costumers, but not as high quality rentals.

Brocklind's Costume Company
500 E Pike
Seattle, WA 98122
(206) 325-8700

140 105th Ave NE
Bellevue WA, 98004
(425 )455-4554

Both rentals and sales. I don't know anything about this shop except what's on the web site.

Champion Party Supply
124 Denny Way
Seattle, WA 98109-4909
(206) 284-1980

I haven't been here but several other shops have referred me there. It appears they do rentals and purchase items.

Display and Costume
11201 Roosevelt Way NE
Seattle, WA 98125
(206) 362-4810

5209 Evergreen Way
Everett, WA 98203
(425) 353-3364

This place is massive and inexpensive. Purchase only as far as I know. They also carry fabrics and supplies to make your own costume.

Pacific Northwest Costume
16129 Redmond Way
Redmond, WA 98052-3834
(425) 881-8618

They have mostly rentals but also have a reasonable selection of purchase items, especially masks.

Tim Vittetoe Originals
(425) 836-1973

If you are looking to go wild this local guy will make a custom costume for you. He also has a bunch of ready-made costumes that look pretty cool online (haven't gone in person).

Vintage Costumers
7011 Roosevelt Way NE
Seattle, WA 98115-5649
(206) 522-5234

A rental shop specializing in authenticate and high-quality costumes from every era. Rentals are for 48 hours and on on the high end of price - maybe $75-$125. I've had mixed experiences with them in terms of their helpfulness and friendliness, but I have never actually rented anything.

More local shops
There are lists of area costume shops on Seattle Citysearch, QwestDex and PartyPop.com.

There are tons more shops all over the area - Lynnwood, Tacoma, Auburn, etc. - that I haven't been to. Look at the three links above to search for even more costume shops.

Online (not local)
eBay
The Enchanted Needle
Angels Fancy Dress (in London)
Hats and That (in the UK)

Other ideas
Also consider less obvious places. If you want to make your own costume or cobble something together out of your closet you might check out Michael's, Jo-Ann, and other craft stores.

You can also visit local thrift stores like Buffalo Exchange and Red Light.

You can also talk to local theaters about costumes, for example you can apparently rent costumes from Seattle Opera but I haven't looked into the details.

For information and ideas on costumes try costumes.org.
